What We Got Up To At Our Quiet Meet Up's This Spring

Jul 02, 2022

As we welcome in the beginning of Summer (and hopefully some sun! 🌞), I can't help but awe at the natural flow of season to season - seriously, this happens every 3 months for me, maybe it's the same for you too?

In that state of awe, I often find myself reflecting on the past few months, and this time around I've been contemplating how wonderful it's been to have our regular in-person Quiet Meet Ups back again.

Here's how the Spring saw us quietly connecting...

One of our very own Quieteers, Julie Jones, kicked off our Spring season of meet ups with a restoring Sound Bath. We LOVE supporting and providing opportunities for our Quieteers to stretch their comfort zones and have a safe space to grow their skills and gain positive experiences... because we LOVE seeing you create those opportunities for others to gently connect with another too β˜ΊοΈπŸ™ Thank you!

"Thanks to all you lovely Quieteers who came. I really appreciate you taking the time to be with me, helping with my journey and co-creating a beautiful energetic space πŸ’™ xx" - Julie Jones

Not one, but two Parent & Child Wellbeing Afternoons were spent exploring Dunkirk Farm! Arranged by our lovely volunteer, Cat, and hosted by QC friend & Coach, Vicky Otter; the little ones and their parents had time to enjoy connecting with one another whilst meeting the animals, picking fruits, getting creative with some arts & crafts, and playing on tractors!

"I joined the Parent & Child Meet Up to offer my child a different experience at a lovely sounding setting, to connect, and stretch my comfort zone... It was a lovely relaxing couple of hours. I felt no pressure for my daughter and I to participate in everything. I SO appreciate you guys and the lovely experiences you offer. It's such a good way to stretch my comfort zone and be around others who understand what it's like living with social anxiety. I'm slowly coming out of my shell while also accepting where I'm at is a wonderful part of healing. Thank you so much." - Claire

In April, us Quieteers strapped on our walking boots and set out on stroll along the Godrevy coastal path and finishing with a slice of yummy cake! Ahh what a bluetiful day it was. We found ourselves immersing in the beauty of nature together, pausing to take in the stunning views many times, watching the seals in the bay, chatting and enjoying the company... and of course our quiet dog, Robin, had to come along too πŸ•

"I came along to meet new people, particularly people who are quiet like me! It's the second Quiet Meet Up I've been to and I've really enjoyed both. Everyone was lovely and chilled and there was a lovely feel to the whole event." - Alistair

What did we get up to on May 1st? We took part in the annual Surfers Against Sewage Million Mile Beach Clean at Perranporth! Showing up with our own group of Quieteer litter pickers, it was a lovely mindful way to spend some time gently connecting, quietly sharing blue space together, and making a difference through caring for our environment πŸ™

"It was a lovely morning helping out tidying up Perranporth Beach. Finished off with tea and cake". - Al

Happy Birthday to us!! Well, on May 12th it was our birthday πŸ₯³ and we celebrated 5 years of Quiet Connections with a visit to Carnglaze Caverns; where we explored the ancient woodlands, smelled the native bluebells, feasted with an outdoor picnic with delicious homemade cupcakes from Kernow Baking Mama, and then went underground as we awed  at the old tin mine cavern. It was a great day spent with great people, who make QC what it is πŸ’™ We all shared a very special moment of connection in the cavern as well, where we stood in complete stillness and silence, listening to the musical droplets of the underground lake!

"It was such a lovely day. A perfect celebration of the work that is being quietly undertaken, to produce an organisation that seamlessly supports us all, with our quiet nature and belief of self-worth xx" - Michele

Wow wow wow! We were all simply blown away by this amazing place πŸ’™ A small group of us Quieteers and three doggos went to meet the donkeys and it was a beautiful outing; meeting the brave donkeys, taking in the sea view, and having tea and cake from the cafe!

"I ruffed seeing the donkeys and meeting the quieteers because they're such kind and gentle people who give me lots of rubs and loves." - Robin, the quiet dog πŸ• (paraphrased, of course πŸ˜†)

Finally, a special shout out to these 2 beautiful Quieteers, because this story of connection just warmed our hearts πŸ’™ Amanda, from Somerset, and Chris, from Cornwall, met on our online programme back in February when they were placed into a support pod together. What started out as encouraging comfort zone stretches, quickly blossomed into a new friendship. Last month, Amanda took the coach (win πŸ‘) from Somerset down to Cornwall to meet Chris in person and spend the day together on the beach... and apparently they did not stop talking! πŸ˜†

This is what it's all about. This is why we exist. It's what we're here for.

So, would you like to join us at one of our next Quiet Meet Up's?

(because we sure would LOVE to welcome you)

We know it can feel scary meeting new people, which is why these gatherings are only for those of us who understand what it's like to feel socially anxious and be a naturally quieter person. We're all in the same boat, and we're all here to support and encourage one another.

Check out our Summer Schedule of Quiet Meet Up's here.

As always, if you ever want a chat before coming along to help ease any anxieties, then we're happy to speak with you. We look forward to meeting you at one of our events soon!

ps. If you'd like to volunteer at one of our gatherings in Cornwall, or organise a meet up in your local area, please email me directly at [email protected] to explore how we can support you with that!
